Guide to Referencing and Formatting Sources

Citation and Reference Style (APA 7th Edition)

To ensure consistency in manuscript preparation, all in-text citations and reference lists must be formatted according to the latest edition of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (APA 7th Edition).

Authors are required to accurately cite all sources used within the text and provide their complete bibliographic information in the reference list at the end of the manuscript. All in-text citations must correspond to entries in the reference list; that is, every source cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and no uncited source should be included in the reference list.

The reference list must be arranged alphabetically according to the surname of the first author. In addition, the inclusion of the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is mandatory for all references that have one.

Examples of In-Text Citations

  • One author: (Ahmadi, 2022)
  • Two authors: (Ahmadi & Mohammadi, 2021)
  • Three or more authors: (Ahmadi et al., 2023)
  • Direct quotation: (Ahmadi, 2022, p. 58)
