Traditional Iranian architecture is an intelligent synthesis of climate, culture, art, and indigenous technologies developed over centuries that has fundamentally shaped people's quality of life. This study examines the psychological, social, and environmental effects of traditional Iranian architecture on residents of both historic and modern neighborhoods and seeks to present its latent capacities as strategies for improving contemporary urban quality of life. The research uses a descriptive-analytical design with a survey approach, targeting residents of traditional and modern areas in Yazd, Kashan, and Tehran as the study population. A total of 120 completed questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS software to explore perceived outcomes and relationships. Results indicate that traditional architectural elements—such as central courtyards, natural building materials, human-scale proportions, and introverted layouts—have positive impacts on psychological security, social interactions, sense of place, and climatic comfort. These findings suggest that creatively reinterpreting the core principles of traditional Iranian architecture can provide a foundation for sustainable, humane, and identity-centered development in contemporary Iranian cities. Integrating these vernacular strategies into modern design can reduce energy use, enhance microclimates, and support cultural continuity while addressing current urban challenges. Consequently, policymakers and designers are encouraged to adapt and reapply these traditional patterns—aligned with environmental, social, and cultural goals—to foster healthier and more resilient urban environments.
